The officiant had just begun to ask us to exchange vows when a murmur spread through the crowd. I hesitated, unsure of what was happening until I turned to look at him. A determined look filled his eyes, and though he sat in his wheelchair, something about his posture was different. His best man stepped forward, offering him support. To my amazement, he slowly and deliberately rose from his wheelchair.

The crowd gasped, the air thick with disbelief and awe. Tears blurred my vision, and my heart skipped a beat, overwhelmed by the enormity of the moment. He stood, albeit shakily, but with a strength I had always known was within him. It was as if the universe paused, honoring the effort and the sheer willpower that fueled him to take those few steps towards me.
