The country and bluegrass music community is in shock after the tragic death of beloved singer-songwriter Ronnie Bowman. The North Carolina native, 64, passed away following a motorcycle accident outside Nashville, Tennessee, on Sunday, March 22.
He died at Vanderbilt Hospital, leaving fans, friends, family and fellow musicians heartbroken.
”We are in complete shock & utterly devastated to confirm that our beloved Ronnie passed away yesterday, Sunday, March 22 due to complications from a tragic motorcycle accident on Saturday, March 21,” Bowman’s wife, Garnet, said in a statement to USA TODAY.
”Ronnie was beloved by so many in our music community, whom he loved so dearly… and we are beyond grateful for all of the love & outpouring toward us already”
A native of Mount Airy, North Carolina, Bowman began performing at just three years old, singing alongside his four sisters in their family band. Together, they brought music to churches across North Carolina and Virginia, laying the foundation for a lifetime in bluegrass and country music.
