A cup of hot water can offer many health benefits

For many people, the first cup of the day is often a hot cup of tea or coffee. They believe these beverages provide enough energy for the body throughout the day.

However, some people prefer to drink a cup of water right after getting out of bed, seeking the refreshing feeling it provides.

But are these habits really good for your health?

According to traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda), it’s best to drink a cup of hot water in the morning, especially early in the morning. This cup of hot water brings numerous health benefits and can help alleviate several common ailments.

We’ve often heard our grandparents and parents remind us to drink enough water, around 8 cups a day, but we often forget to mention that it’s better to drink warm or hot water for maximum health benefits.

Drinking hot water, particularly in the morning or before bed, provides many health benefits. Ayurveda believes that hot water helps balance “Fire” (symbolizing respiration, digestion, and circulation) and “Earth” (symbolizing hair, bones, skin, teeth, and internal organs).

So after reading this information, make it a habit to drink hot water daily to help eliminate some common ailments.

1. Improves Digestion
Most of us drink water after every meal. However, instead of drinking a glass of cold water, drinking warm water can help digest the food better.

2. Relieves Constipation
Unlike cold water, drinking a cup of warm water every morning can help stimulate bowel movements and relieve constipation.

3. Soothes a Sore Throat
Drinking hot water is one of the most effective natural remedies for a sore throat. It helps dissolve and remove mucus in the respiratory tract, thus quickly alleviating the pain.

4. Reduces Cramps
For those who frequently suffer from cramps, drinking warm water can immediately alleviate the discomfort. It relaxes abdominal muscles, improves blood circulation, and helps prevent cramps.
