I took a deep breath, unable to guess what was coming next. My boss, usually so cold and distant, seemed… hesitant.
— “Sit down,” he finally said, his trembling voice betraying an unusual emotion.
I sat down, my heart pounding wildly.
— “Do you remember the man you helped a few weeks ago?” he continued.
I nodded timidly, surprised he was bringing it up.
— “He isn’t just some stranger,” he murmured. “He’s the father of an important partner of our company… and he suffers from dementia.”
I froze. The father of an important partner… and ill?
— “He wandered out of his home one day without telling anyone, and got lost,” Mr. Delcourt went on. “No one knew where he was or if he was safe… until your act reached them.”
