With Sarah’s help, I prepared for the court proceedings. Marcus was confident that he would walk away with the lion’s share of our so-called marital assets. He was mistaken. When the day of the hearing arrived, he strutted into the courtroom with a smirk, convinced of his impending victory.
The proceedings began with Marcus’s attorney outlining what he believed to be a straightforward case. It was then Sarah’s turn. With a calm and measured voice, she began to unravel the truth.
“Your Honor,” Sarah addressed the judge, “my client, Katherine, is not the person her husband believes her to be. For years, Marcus has operated under the assumption that Katherine was financially dependent on him. However, the reality is quite different.”
She paused, letting the words sink in before continuing. “Katherine is the founder and CEO of a highly successful design firm, valued at nearly $100 million. Furthermore, she recently inherited $47 million from her late aunt. Marcus’s claims of financial superiority are baseless.”
