Michael watched her, a sense of admiration growing within him. This young girl, barely ten, was shouldering responsibilities no child should have. He was reminded of his own childhood, the countless times his mother had gone without so he could have enough. And now, he realized, it was his turn to pay it forward.

When they reached the checkout, Emily’s eyes widened at the total, but Michael simply smiled and paid without a second thought. As they left the store, he handed Emily a business card. “If you ever need anything, you call this number. Or come by my office. I mean it.”

Emily took the card, her small fingers tracing over the embossed letters. “Thank you,” she whispered, her voice barely audible above the bustling city sounds.But Michael wasn’t done yet. “Where do you live?” he asked gently. Emily hesitated, unsure whether to reveal her home, but Michael’s patience and kindness convinced her.
