In the wake of the devastating tragedy in Shreveport, one haunting detail continues to grip those following the story.
It’s not only the unimaginable violence — but what loved ones say is happening to one of the surviving mothers as she fights to recover.
A morning that changed everything
What began as an ordinary Sunday in Shreveport quickly turned into one of the most horrific incidents the city has ever seen. Authorities say eight children were killed in a domestic violence attack that unfolded across multiple locations.
The victims — ranging in age from just three to 1 — were siblings and a cousin, their lives cut tragically short.
The children were later identified as Jayla Elkins, 3; Shayla Elkins, 5; Kayla Pugh, 6; Layla Pugh, 7; Markaydon Pugh, 10; Sariahh Snow, 11; Khedarrion Snow, 6; and Braylon Snow, 5.
One teenage boy survived by jumping from a roof, suffering broken bones.
Two women also survived with severe injuries, including one mother who was shot in the face and is now recovering in the hospital.
As the investigation continues, no clear motive has been confirmed.
