Todd’s final moments

It’s unclear if Discovery plans to include the footage in the upcoming season.

In the aftermath, Todd’s mother, Angela Meadows, has made a heartfelt plea for the moment of his death not to be aired.

Speaking to TMZ, she said, “We don’t want to see any footage from the accident and do not want Discovery to air any of that footage or make money off of our son’s death.” She added, “We hope they only air good things of Todd on that boat.”

According to his mother, Tom had only recently returned to work after being sidelined for a few weeks due to a concussion.

Angela told TMZ that about a month before the accident, Todd was struck in the head aboard the ship. Following standard medical protocol, he was examined by a doctor and, after the concussion was confirmed, flown back home to Washington to recover before resuming his duties.

Angela has now requested access to happier recordings of Todd crabbing, so the family can remember him doing what he loved. She also stressed the need for accountability: “We don’t want to put the blame on anyone, but someone has to take responsibility. We will have justice for Todd.”

The mother also says she’s been assured Todd did not suffer in his final moments.

In response to the tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been created to support Todd’s loved ones, particularly his three sons, raising over $45,000 so far.

The page reads:

”This unimaginable loss has left his children without their father, his parents without their son, his siblings without their brother and his family broken. As the family navigates this heartbreaking time, we are raising funds to help support his three boys, assist with funeral expenses, and help ease the financial burden in the months ahead. Any donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward honoring his life and ensuring his boys are cared for in the way he would have wanted. If you are unable to give, please keep our family in your prayers and his name alive like he wanted.”

Deadliest Catch shows the tough and often risky life of crab fishermen in the Bering Sea. Todd’s death is a reminder of how dangerous the work can be. Over the years, the show has seen other crew members lose their lives in accidents, underlining just how serious life at sea can be.

Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding Meadows’ death.

”We don’t want to put the blame on anyone, but someone has to take responsibility. We will have justice for Todd,” Angela Meadows told TMZ.
